Universal “Distant”, “Easter”, “Demeter” dates
Universal Pictures has set new release dates for two DreamWorks films and an Amblin Entertainment project.
The ‘Distant’ sci-fi adventure kicks off on March 11, 2022 and stars Anthony Ramos as a low-level mining engineer whose spaceship is hit by an asteroid sending him to an unknown alien planet.
There, he faces off against his AI survival suit (voiced by Zachary Quinto) and aliens. He connects with another crew member (Naomi Scott) over the radio, but she is trapped inside her own escape pod and also loses oxygen.
Stand-up comedian Jo Koy stars in “Easter Sunday” which opens three weeks later on April 1, 2022. The film follows a man returning home for an Easter celebration with his tumultuous Filipino-American family.
Finally, “The Last Voyage of Demeter” directed by Andre Ovredal will debut on January 27, 2023. Corey Hawkins, Liam Cunningham and David Dastmalchian are the stars.
This film, based on an iconic chapter from Bram Stoker’s classic novel, Dracula, follows a journey from Carpathia to London on a merchant ship carrying fifty unmarked wooden crates. Strange events befall the doomed crew as they attempt to survive.
