Movie buffs always try to bring adventure home. But one TikTok user really brought Marvel, DC, and Star wars home hero in the coolest way possible. Going through Geeks are sexy, we discovered the work of the artist Rudy willingham. He printed pictures of several characters on pieces of paper, then used the cutouts to make mini-films using his own environment.

Rudy willingham

Using the doorknob, Willingham asks Shang-Chi to kick a villain’s butt. While her best friend Katie watches the action in wonder. He then uses a coat rack on the back of a door to create the horns for Loki’s helmet. And then make the body of the Hulk at the same time. But our favorite part is when Willingham uses the Arm & Hammer logo on packaging to create Thor holding his Mjölnir hammer. How has no one ever thought of doing this one before?

Speaking of MCU heroes, Willingham also recreated part of the bus fight scene from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ring of Tens in the smallest details. Again, just using cutouts. We don’t even want to know how long it took to make this one. But the effort speaks for itself.

But Rudy Willingham didn’t limit his cut-out adventures to the MCU. He also had DCEU action with the Suicide Squad. In this video, he uses devices outside his home, like a public bathroom dryer nozzle that serves as a helmet for Peacemaker. Steam coming out of a sewer grate in the street becomes smoke coming out of the cannon fired from Bloodsport. And Harley and King Shark come to life in hilarious ways too.

And before going into the Marvel and DC universes, Rudy Willingham did an amazing Star warss tribute using the same paper cutting formula. Who would have thought that a Roomba would make such a perfect Millennium Falcon? Or that the Tesla logo mimics a Mandalorian helmet so perfectly?

You can check out more of Rudy Willingham’s paper cut designs, including some for Disney animation and Strange things, by going to his TikTok.

These aren’t always shiny new additions to major theme parks across the country. Comcast‘s (NASDAQ: CMCSA) Universal Orlando will close one of its oldest attractions in a few months. Shrek 4D – an effects-packed 3D show in theaters – will end in January, right after the seasonal peak of holiday crowds returns home.

Themed with one of the most lucrative franchises in animation history, Shrek 4D debuted in 2002 – the year after the first of four Shrek movies have reached the big screen. It’s not one of the park’s most popular attractions, but it’s an interesting removal, with Disney (NYSE: DIS) rolling out new rides and experiences to commemorate Disney World’s 50th anniversary earlier this month.

The photoshoot with the characters will remain, but the 3D show and the adjacent gift shop will disappear in January. Image source: Universal Orlando.

Ogres are like onions

It’s a layered initiative from Comcast’s theme park in central Florida that will actually reduce its capacity of two high-volume attractions in January. Revenge of the Mummy – a popular indoor roller coaster – will also close in January for a multi-month renovation. It plans to reopen next summer.

It’s not fair to say that Comcast is backing down. Just a few months ago, VelociCoaster opened at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure theme park. It’s a large, white-fingered roller coaster that has garnered rave reviews since its debut in late spring. He is also working on a brand new theme park. The potentially high epic universe is expected to open in early 2025 after a construction delay linked to COVID-19.

The attractions aren’t meant to last forever, but Shrek 4D has been a park staple for almost two decades. It looks dated compared to some of Universal’s new attractions with more sophisticated bells and whistles, but it’s still surprising to see the family spectacle disappear. Shrek 4D opened as a licensed DreamWorks Animation attraction in the park, but five years ago Comcast acquired the computer animation studio. The move opened the door to more rides and attractions themed around the popular versions of DreamWorks Animation.

Another interesting decision is the shutting down of Revenge of the Mummy for about six months. It’s a richly themed interior coaster with some heavy theatrical elements. The biggest Disney World opening in 2022 will be a guardians of the galaxy– themed indoor roller coasters that will also pass through richly detailed performance stages. Unless Universal Orlando dramatically upgrades its own indoor ride to compete, it might seem odd to shut it down when its rival’s new ride opens.

Ultimately, you can’t blame Comcast for next year’s disruption schedule. He had his hour earlier this year, with his jurassic park-themed screaming machine, but now the spotlight has moved a few miles southwest to Disney World. It will be difficult to prevent tourists from discovering Disney World and all the new rides, attractions and experiences it will unveil during the Golden Anniversary celebration. It will be when the party wears off in early 2023 that Comcast will be ready to return to center stage. If Comcast is smart, it’ll make sure it has a new rides or two to introduce in the spring and summer of 2023, whetting the appetite ahead of the Epic Universe debut less than two years later.

Disney and Comcast are not pure theme park operators. They represent a third of the 6 large media companies. However, their closed attractions are brilliant outlets for promoting their theatrical franchises to the tens of millions of visitors who visit their theme parks each year in Florida and California. They know when to get attention. They also know when to give in to the competition.

“The reason I’m planning is that I can’t draw,” admits Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Robert Legato, ASC (Hugo). “On the last film I did with Michael Bay, I ended up doing car accident simulations. I’m not faking for what would actually happen, but for what I want him to do. Then I find a clever way to film it rather than animating and planning every moment. After you reconstruct the scene, the shorter bridge is what you force to create the animation. People who are fluent in animation would prefer to animate the whole thing. I find it does not work well for me because I am steeped in live work. Even though the animation is probably correct, I question it because it wasn’t made with science, gravity, weight, and mass, all the different things that I take into account when I put in place a gag or a shoot. The animation is, “Here’s the plan, let me animate it and make it work.” It literally only works for that angle while mine works for all angles, but I go for the one that looks the coolest.

“What we did and liked about The Lion King, and what Andy Jones [Animation Supervisor] fact, was only to make the animals do what they can do within the confines of the stage, ”notes Legato. “Animals can jump and leap but couldn’t do it 50 times more than was actually possible. You couldn’t stretch and crush the animation. You had to work indoors if you could train an animal to do this, it would. If you got them moving their mouths with the same pace of speech, you could almost film it live. It was the sensitivity behind it all. Sometimes we wanted to invent our own version of the film rather than being a direct tribute. When we ran into some issues we went back to the old one and it turned out they had the same issue and fixed it.

The best-known principles of animation are the 12 designed by Disney’s Nine Old Men in the 1930s and published later in Disney Animation: The Illusion of Life in 1981. Ross Burgess, Animation Manager, Episodic at MPC, focuses on five in particular that apply to live action. “In feature animation, a character’s timing is easier to manage because it’s all CG and you can re-sync your camera to match the performance. In live-action, you often have to counter the animation to the timing of the plate that has been pre-shot. It is easier to exaggerate the emotions or movements of the character in the animation of feature films. You are not tied to the “reality” of a real environment. In visual effects, we use exaggeration slightly differently in the way we animate our characters or anthropomorphize our animals. It’s all about the subtlety of a character and knowing when you’ve broken “reality”.

ORLANDO, Florida – For the first time since theme parks reopened last summer, Disney World will be hosting indoor character meetups starting next month.

What would you like to know

  • Meet Returning Characters at Disney World in November
  • Interactions between characters will be socially distanced and without hugs or autographs
  • Disney is also bringing back more live entertainment, including the Indiana Jones stunt show in December.

However, interactions between the characters will be socially distanced, which means no hugs or autographs.

“While the environment isn’t conducive to hugs and autographs, you’ll soon be able to spend some one-on-one time with some of your favorite characters, visit them at themed locations, and snap a photo or two,” Disney told Tuesday at an article on his official parks blog.

At the Magic Kingdom, visitors can meet the Disney Princesses at the Princess Fairytale Hall and Mickey Mouse at the Town Square Theater. Mickey will be wearing his 50th anniversary EARidescent outfit.

Additional character interactions will be available at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with visitors lucky enough to meet Minnie Mouse at Red Carpet Dreams at Disney Junior Stars at Animation Courtyard.

Disney did not release an exact start date for the meetings.

Instead of the traditional encounters, Disney presented its characters in cavalcades. In Tuesday’s blog post, Disney said many of these experiences will continue.

Disney also announced the return of more live entertainment, including the “Disney Movie Magic” nighttime screening show on November 7 and “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular” on December 19.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom will offer live music again, with Chakranadi and Kora Tinga Tinga returning next week. The Tam Tam Drummers will be back in the Africa section of the park in early November.

Some entertainment returned last week as Disney World kicked off its 50th anniversary celebration. At Epcot, the Alberta Bound performs again at the Canadian pavilion, the Taiko drummers are back at the Japan pavilion and Sergio is back at the Italy pavilion.

Disney has said it will share more details on other entertainment “very soon.”

Apple TV Plus brings another contender to the animation world in the form of To blush. The short is Joe Mateo’s directorial debut. The trailer can be viewed below.

To blush follows the story of a horticultural astronaut who crashes on a barren dwarf planet. As he begins to lose hope, another explorer crashes nearby. The other explorer is able to bring the astronaut’s dying plants to life, and thanks to this, she brings hope. In an interview with Variety, Mateo says this.

“We started with this planet which looks barren and boring. When the astronaut lands, there is nothing there and he has a very limited supply of oxygen. When this visitor shows up, the music kicks off and we see this planet transform into color and vibrancy. “

The trailer for this animated short gives a very quick glimpse into the two’s budding relationship and how it ultimately blossomed into something much more. This is no coincidence, as the trailer displays the words “inspired by a true epic love story”. Director Joe Mateo said in an interview with Variety that the short was inspired by his own experiences after losing his wife to breast cancer. In a scene where the other visitor disappears, Mateo explains in an interview with Animation World Network that he struggled with the making of this scene.

“It’s hard to talk about this in a very neutral way. It’s hard not to be moved because, you know, it’s so personal. There was a definite moment when I had to revisit that scene from her. disappeared and barely managed to make it in the Zoom reunion. But then I realized I was in a safe space; all this support I received from people through Zoom was overwhelming. from there I felt so comfortable, surrounded and feeling the love of my crew, it was very special.

Joe Mateo is no stranger when it comes to animation, as he has many Disney title credits to his name. For disney Lock, Tangled, Zootopia and Raya and the last dragon he is credited as a history artist. The film is the first animated short to release from Santa Monica, California-based Skydance Media. The studio has a history of feature films such as Annihilation, True courage, and Gemini Man with Will Smith.

The studio formed a multi-year partnership in 2017 with Ilion Animation Studios, based in Madrid. The studio’s first animated feature film, Luck, is currently slated for release on February 18, 2022. In January 2019, the studio hired former Pixar and Walt Disney Animation CCO, John Lasseter, to spark excitement. and controversy. In December 2020, Apple TV Plus began talks for the distribution rights of the upcoming Luck and Bewitched from the studio and then signed a global agreement to include more films and animated shows.

For a first step into animation, Skydance certainly puts its best foot forward with a story as personal and sweet as To blush. The short premiered on Apple TV Plus on October 1 and certainly seems worth a look.

Unless you have lived under a rock, you know that Lin-Manuel Miranda is a musical genius and can’t write a bad song. The award-winning brain behind Hamilton and In the heights is the next gift to the world with eight original disney songs Encanto. And we know all of Miranda’s new songs are smash hits because the film’s creators struggled to name a favorite.

With a few months to go, the incredible team of Walt Disney Animation Studios working hard to put the finishing touches on the feature film Encanto. Disney was kind enough to take a look at some of the press, and I was completely blown away. Right off the bat it got me singing new Lin-Manuel Miranda songs, so I had to ask the creators their favorites when I spoke to them on behalf of CinemaBlend, and that turned out to be my most questionable question. hard! Director Byron Howard responded with the following:

I would say I have favorites for different reasons. The Family Madrigal song that starts the movie is probably the fastest song a Disney character has ever made, like in Disney history, it’s amazing. And Stephanie [Beatriz] nails it, and it’s so much fun to let off steam in this amazing city and meet the family members and just the color, variety and choreography. It’s a real peculiarity for me.

It’s not every day that a show is renewed for a second season before its first season premieres. But according to Bill Motz – whose new series The Ghost and Molly McGee premieres today on Disney Channel – it’s about having the right ingredients.

“We really decided to do a Disney show,” says Motz, who co-created the series with longtime friend and children’s animation writer Bob Roth. “We love the Disney experience, so we wanted to incorporate all of the elements of what we think is classic Disney storytelling: the heart, the humor, and a little bit of horror just for the fun of it. Also, I feel like when you come out of a Disney movie, you feel a little better to have had that experience, maybe even a little more upbeat. We wanted to put it all on the table. And I guess the studios have to agree that we’re right on target.

The Ghost and Molly McGee follows the unlikely friendship between an energetic young optimist named Molly and a cranky, introverted ghost named Scratch. When Molly and her family move into a dilapidated house that Scratch lives in while he works to make the city as miserable as possible, the pessimistic poltergeist casts a curse on Molly that he will haunt her with every move all day, every day. . But, to Scratch’s extreme disappointment, a bright-eyed Molly sees the curse as a promise of better friendship, and suddenly, Scratch realizes that he could be the one cursed.

Yet, as this unconventional pair spends more time together – and after Molly gives her new ghost friend her own dollhouse mansion – Molly and Scratch discover that they learn a lot from their opposing personalities, and that staying together no. maybe not that bad.

“We were very clear from the start that we didn’t want to do a show about two people who hate each other,” says Roth. “It’s a show about a better friendship at heart. That’s not to say that there aren’t times when they drive each other crazy like friends do.

Produced by Disney Television Animation, Flixzilla Aura and WildBrain, the 2D series began as an idea “fallen from the sky into our knees,” according to Roth. But it quickly started to turn into a story that Roth and Motz realized they knew from personal experience.

“Bill and I were really fleshing it out, working on the pilot talking about a scene and how Molly would have that point of view and Scratch would have that point of view and how that would lead to comedic tension. and all kinds of things, ”says Roth. “And we realized, ‘Wait a minute. It’s you and me.

Roth and Motz have not only worked together on several projects, from Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures To The Penguins of Madagascar and Kim possible, but they’ve been friends for over 30 years, first meeting at a summer production workshop at the University of Southern California.

“Bill is an extrovert, an optimist and a carefree person,” says Roth. “I’m an introvert and pessimist and just happy to be left alone. And that’s who Molly and Scratch are. Once we had our friendship as the touchstone of the show, everything grew out of that and fell into place in an almost supernatural way.

Motz adds: “It is easy to think that these opposing poles are still opposing poles and that one is good and the other is bad. But we have learned over the course of our friendship that we train each other. I tend to be inclined to magical thinking, like everyone else is my boyfriend, and everything is great. Bob tempers this a bit with, “Hey, maybe set some proper boundaries.” I think it has been healthy for me. I’m a better person because of my relationship with Bob and, in the same way, Bob has opened up to people and taken risks and opportunities. I think Bob can reluctantly admit that he’s a better person because of his friendship with me.

But Motz and Roth aren’t the only ones on the team to creatively benefit from a long-standing friendship. Their co-executive producer Steve Loter, known for his work as a director on American Dragon: Jake Long and Kim Possible: a point in time, has also worked with Motz and Roth for years.

“In the relationship between the three of us, if you’ve got an optimist and a pessimist, I bring the weirdness to the table as a neighbor next door who comes and never leaves and eats everything out of the fridge,” Loter explains. “It was fantastic working on this because I’ve known these guys for a long time, and there are a few ways we can end our thoughts. All of the great elements that you might see in a Disney show, with heart, comedy, and storytelling, we all share those same sensibilities.

Before Steve embarked on the project, Roth says the series animation already had the ‘Loter thumbprint’ because Steve’s brother John was the first to draw a picture for the Scratch character. . The design has remained and the show follows the look, as Loter puts it, “classic 50s Hollywood cartoons”.

“It was like back then, every studio, Disney in particular, created such a rich and beautiful look,” he says. “So we have that influence there. We certainly have a modern sensibility that goes with it. But I think the biggest inspiration, the biggest push for the visuals, is our voice actors. “

Mystical quest and The attack of the Titans‘s Ashly Burch lends her voice to Molly while Aqua Teen Hunger Force‘s Dana Snyder plays Scratch. Both actors are well experienced in extreme animation and exaggerated tonal expression, and it served the show more than just comedy.

“They’re both really fantastic at what they bring to the table,” Loter says. “Their voices have such wonderful peaks and valleys, that you want to make the animation so fit for the characterization you get, that you find you distort the facial expressions and basically break the seat of the model. hit something that was so fun in the way they put it.

Motz adds, “What Steve gave us as well was this brilliant take on spin, a modern sense of timing and a deep expression and energy that uplifts the show even more.”

Raised comedy and expression for The Ghost and Molly McGee Also comes from the fact that the three executive producers spent the production not only trying to make a beautifully wacky series that is true to Disney’s vision, but also trying to make each other laugh.

“I think that’s what unites us,” Loter says. “Some of the best memories I have are sitting in a montage bay, reviewing an animatic, and trying to outdo myself with gags and jokes. We’re just trying to make things fun for us. And, hopefully, find a way to connect with an audience.

With so much comedy and expressive animation, connecting with audiences can prove to be a strain for some shows. But whether it’s a family play night bottle episode or seeing Molly’s vulnerability brought to light as she admits having trouble making lasting friendships, the story of a ghost not so scary and a not so scary girl living in a not so scary neighborhood. haunted house is filled with as much sweetness and sincerity as it is fun and scary.

“We looked at what we think Disney does best,” says Motz. “When you say Disney’s name, it conjures up that idea, that image, that feeling. We wanted to be part of that legacy and tell that kind of story. The family faces some adversity in Season 1. They do. in the face of tough things they run into some curvy balls, but the McGee family comes together and finds a way to overcome the challenges and hardships. I hope the show is encouraging and says to people, “Maybe that we can face this stuff together and get away with it. “

Roth adds, “I don’t want to get into too many spoilers, but Molly and Scratch’s friendship is tested in a very difficult way. And I want people to applaud when they triumph.

The Ghost and Molly McGeeThe first season of will also include guest stars like Cheers“Kelsey Grammer, Unsafeis Natasha Rothwell, Lady Birdit’s Greta Gerwig, Communityby Yvette Nicole Brown, and Joyit’s Jane Lynch. New episodes roll out Saturdays at 9 a.m. ET through November 27 on Disney Channel, with episodes available Wednesday, October 6 on Disney +.

September is almost over, but it’s easy to see why Walt disney (NYSE: DIS) looking forward to the new month. October is going to be huge for the House of the Mouse, especially for its suddenly resilient theme park business.

Disney is never boring. Let’s take a closer look at some of the dates investors will want to watch out for when it comes to the family entertainment giant.

Die-hard theme park fans are converging in central Florida this week. Disney World’s Magic Kingdom turns 50 on Friday, and with it, the media mogul is throwing an 18-month-long party at his massive resort, complete with new rides, shows and – finally – prizes.

Disney just gave its annual passes a huge makeover, an initiative to optimize per capita spending by limiting the times less lucrative pass holders can visit. It also makes its old FastPass accelerated queues a premium experience that customers will have to pay daily to access.

The heart of the Friday celebration will be at the Magic Kingdom, with a new fireworks display in the evening. Disney’s Epcot Park will prove to be popular as well, launching a new nighttime show itself, as well as the official opening of the Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure ride.

It’s also the start of Disney’s 2022 fiscal year. If Disney World’s strategic adjustments prove to be more popular than controversial, it could be the start of a record year for the media stock baron.

October 19

These are tough times for ABC. It is difficult for traditional media networks to compete with the most advanced premium streaming services. The ratings of Disney’s ABC and other historic broadcasters have taken a hit over the years, but one of the highest ratings on ABC’s weekly charts has been the current season of The single person Where The bachelorette.

The new season of The bachelorette premieres October 19, moving Monday through Tuesday evenings. It’s usually hard to get excited about an ABC show these days, but with advertisers comfortable spending it again in 2021, the return of a popular content franchise is clearly a welcome sign.

22 october

There aren’t many obvious cinematic blockbusters coming out of Disney in October. November will bring us Marvel Eternals, the sixth installment of the Alone at home franchise and animation Encanto. However, a dark horse movie to watch in October is Ron has gone wrong.

Disney inherited a catalog of upcoming releases as part of its purchase of key assets from the Twenty-First Century Fox, and that’s how Ron has gone wrong found itself in its catalog. The animated feature takes place in the future, where children have personal robots as companions. The protagonist – Barney – gets a bot named Ron, which turns out to be very different from everyone else.

Disney is the undisputed best dog in theatrical animation. Between its iconic eponymous studio and the acquisition of Pixar, it is home to some of the greatest animated films in history. Like the namesake B-Bot himself in Ron has gone wrong, this movie will be different from all the others.

This is Locksmith Animation’s first film. If the film is a success, there is no better company than Disney to capitalize on television, theme parks, and consumer merchandising.

If he fails to draw the crowds to the local multiplexes, no worries. November has this list of big releases.
